Inside walls aren't obligatory - there's a "
solid"
version of the wall that allows you not to have them. Basically, they don't look very good when they're in very small sections, like in this room. (I forgot to change the one at the top. As you may have noticed, I sort of did this quickly.)
2. Heh, you removed the brain that was next to the rattlesnake. It's going to die very soon.
Oops. Actually it won't die, though, until you kill all the other brains...
3. How can you be in room twice west if it's the only room that shows on the minimap 
The real answer is that this is because this is a playtest in the editor. However, in JtRH it'd also be possible to have this exact same situation in a real game, because you can now have multiple entrances to a level.
