I looked at my demo, but it's really hard to sum up the room. I might have overcomplicated it, too, it's hard to tell at a glance.
The main key to it is getting a roach stuck on one of the troublesome pressure plates, so you can step on that plate without issues. The easiest way to do this is to have the roach follow you down the passage with the trapdoor.
It's easy to get two roaches into the outer area, but you only need one.
Edit: Yeah, I did overcomplicate it, I ran through the room again just going right for the pressure plate traps and I improved my score to second place.
