Just discovered this unusual behaviour and thought perhaps it should be brought up. Windows 10, DROD (GatEB Steam) 5.1.0.6530

If the player holds Ctrl and presses Wait, and the time on the roach clock is in any position that isn't 30, the clock progresses to the next 30. That's the intended behaviour, no problems there.

If the player holds Ctrl and presses Wait, and the time on the roach clock is in the 30 position, the clock progresses to the next 30, then keeps going to the next next 30, for a total of 60 turns.

Yes, Robin had reported it and I could not reproduce the behavior.

Yes, Robin had reported it and I could not reproduce the behavior.

It's definitely still doing it for me tonight, at least in the GatEB Steam core hold. So at the very least, it's reproducible on my system. Is it possible that it's something related to being on a 64-bit Win10 machine, given that it's a 32-bit app?

Playing GatEB-Steam 5.1.0.6532 on Windows 10 (64-bit)

I'm also experiencing this. Tried both in an empty room and in a room with a roach queen. Had the same results both times.

Pressing ctrl+wait waits seemingly randomly either one or two spawn cycles. In my experience

- It does not matter what the current turn is. Seen both single and double waits regardless of the turn count.

- If I keep ctrl held down while tapping wait, it always skips two spawns. If I press both keys down at the same time, I'm seeing regular behaviour.

Thanks for the additional info.

Unfortunately, I can't reproduce this issue no matter how many ways I try.

I believe it is a bona fide bug, but I won't be able to fix it until I can isolate the root cause.

I would like to add my voice to the list of people experiencing this issue. It happens in several of my upcoming videos, and it appears to happen at random.

Perhaps it has to do with the new SDL engine? Just a thought.

My own experiences:
-Not seeing this happen in TSS off-Steam, which is what I usually play.
-Tried it in both Gunthro and TSS on Steam and got the bug.

I'm also the victim of the problem.

Incidentally, I noticed that non-Steam version is still build 6512 while the Steam version is 6539/6540. What was changed during these builds, specifically, which of them are Steam-specific? I think it's good that 1. for the non-Steam version to catch up everyone else in builds, and 2. in this way we might be able to see which build caused the problem.

IIRC, all the newer commits are Steam-specific, so we don't need a new patch on the forum to capture these changes.

My intuition tells me this is an SDL2-related issue related to keyboard event handling. I haven't been able to reproduce it on my end, however, otherwise I would have fixed it already.

Hmm...I just thought of something else to check on. What key/move repeat rate does everyone have set who is experiencing this issue?

This seems to be relevant. The problem disappears if I set the repeat rate to slowest possible.

At higher values it starts to happen again. Normally I have it around 30% and that's enough to trigger double-waits.

There have been multiple SDL2 version bumps since this was last reported, and maybe it's been resolved on that end.

Doesn't need to be tested on Steam, I don't believe, since 5.1.1 is also using SDL2 now. The Caravel and Steam builds are converging to use identical third-party libraries with 5.1.1.

I don't have this issue on 5.1.1.alpha.2020-10-18.

Tested with the same repeat rate settings that this occurs with on 5.1.0.6545.

Is there a chance of a linux build for 5.1.1?

I've noticed this problem on the latest 5.1.0 release, intermittently (and only in some rooms), but it was so bad at times that I've stopped using Ctrl-Wait entirely.

There appears to be some difficulty getting a build for Linux for 5.1.1 - Last I heard, iQubic was working on it.

I wanted to check it for myself, but the build instructions for Linux in the readme are either misleading or outdated (there are no scons or makefile files in Master/Linux). Where can I find a set of (more) working instructions?
