Shadows of Adam is a SNES-stylized jRPG which manages to avoid many of the gameplay pitfalls of the genre and the era. I've had the pleasure to test the pre-demo version of the game prior to the kickstarter campaign and as a person who has a lot of bad things to say about SNES jRPGs this game does a very good job at capturing the feel of the old game with much more modern gameplay.
I think the two things that spoke to me the best were the lack of random encounters (bless whoever made this design decisions) and a novel way to handle MP/Skill Points in a way that encourages you to use the skills as much as you can and, at the same time, to stay balanced and challenging. The skill points automatically regenerate when not used by a pretty decent number.
They are running a kickstarter campaign right now and at the moment of writing only 11 days and a bit over half of the money left, so if you like what you see don't hesitate to support them
. If you like what you see but can't spare a dime, spread the words among your friends and share them on facebook and twitter!
