These threads each have n replies, or n+1 posts total. The reply count seems to reflect n+1, which is a bit odd.

Yup. I can confirm this. It looks like older threads are unaffected, but newer ones have the count increased by 1. As near as I can work out, reply counts are correct for threads started no later than 20th May, 2015.

Was forum software updated around then that might have it somehow thinking the first post is somehow a reply when it's posted?

Anyone want to write a little web crawler to determine the date of the last thread with 0 replies reported?
