When you export a hold in DROD Architects Edition do you lose everything? Or, can you export it then import again and have all your demos and stuff.

I am not sure if this was the place to ask but I didn't see any other place this should go.

I have been getting lost in the holds I have played verses the hold I still want to play. There is alot to manage and if I could take out the ones that I finished,and get them back if I wanted to, that would be great.

I have not wanted to risk experimenting so I was wondering if anyone else had.

To be more descriptive:

When you export a hold, it is copied outside of the game, not moved there. The game does not lose the hold when it's exported, you just get another copy that you can distribute for other people to import on their own systems. Don't worry about exporting, there's no good reason for anything to go wrong.

I'm thinking that you mean to ask whether you can delete the holds and then reimport them again later and still have all your player's saved games in that hold. Well, not really in DROD:AE. If you delete a hold, then all your player's saved games and demos will be deleted also. After reimporting these holds, your player will again start from the beginning of them. (But don't worry - we've thought up a more robust way to handle this issue in the sequel to DROD.)

I noticed that the size of your player file gets bigger as you play more holds, but it doesnt go back down again as you delete them. Why is this?

I think it has to do with the way the Metakit library handles database storage and retrieval. When records are removed, I believe it retains empty storage in the file at those locations (not compacting the records for speed) and reuses the space later as the file/DB gets filled with new records.

I asked previously somewhere, but I can't remember if I got the answer I was looking for or not, so I'll re-ask here, since this thread is near the top.

When you export a hold you have made, are the saved demos of it also exported with it? If so, are they invisible to other players of the hold, or can they be extracted?

Only the demos marked as title display demos are bundled with the hold. They can be viewed on the demos screen by the hold author.
