It's clear that you need to spend as little time as possible with the Construct on solid ground, but you also need to rotate your sword as little as possible, since that slows you down.

I think I might move the entire room down three or four spaces in the next version just to give some slack on the timer for people whose sword directions aren't quite facing the right way.

Unchecked Jail

- The Entrance now has adS' challenge included.

Unsealed Stronghold

- 2E's north passage has been changed slightly to look nicer on the mini-map. There is also a golem blocking a secret passage to the east.

- New secret room at 3E with two more golems (as per adS' suggestion). The particular configuration I used should make this interesting to solve, and give new players some tips as to how to be efficient with space.

Untenable Factory

- 2N4E has been changed to hopefully not be broken anymore.

- 4N's trapdoor field has been moved down 3 squares to give 3 more moves of leeway on the timers.

- 4N3E should now not be able to be solved by killing the Construct sufficiently far away. I'm OK with that method being used to solve 3N2E.

- Added a ninth checkpoint in the big chamber in 5N, just as an extra help.

Unused Annex

- New room 1S, enforcing a more challenging way of solving Untenable Factory 3N2E

- New room 1S1W, a tougher version of Untenable Factory 2N2E with the passageway moved two squares to the east. (Note: this is what update #2 hastily corrected)

I have removed the attachment - "for" futures solvers :)

By the way, I have finally solved US 1N7E.

Once you understand the mechanism it is "easy".
As we say in German "Nachher ist man immer schlauer" = Afterwards you are always smarter.

An excellent exercise in vertical preference.

The only room I still haven't solved is UF 5N and I have little hope. This is not my type of rooms. Of course, therefore I have not solved any rooms in the hidden level.

Hmm, it looks like I broke this room with the latest update - the intended solution I had in mind for it no longer works. One of the problems is that I made the east passage too long. The room can only be solved now with an unintended solution (that does still use the roach queen). Let me tinker with the room and post a fix later today.

Okay, a new version of the hold has been posted. Untenable Factory 2N4E should now actually be solvable in the correct way. The new hot tile is there to prevent an unintended solution.

It's been there since Unkempt Chambers was first built. But thanks; I think it's both a difficult and yet perfectly reasonable secret room.

Oh yeah, I must have redesigned it at some point but forgot to note it in the changelog. You can't hit the orbs in any old order now; the fact that the middle column is different from the others is important.

Alright, the hold is nearly done - I'll call this a Release Candidate, but I'd still appreciate more comments. I'll wait a week or two before submitting to give testers some more time to play the hold.

- Levels actually have entrance text now

- Some more monologues added

- Final level built - now the hold actually plays from start to finish.

- New challenge in Untenable Factory 2N1E - don't turn your sword

- New rooms in Unused Annex: 1S2W, 2S1W, 1N1W, 2N3E

Excellent hold. Some really clever lynchpins that aren't too difficult for the newbie. Gentle introduction of elements with enough challenge that the player won't get bored. I'm working my way through it but have to take a break so I'll post what I've got so far.

UG
2S1E: Maybe a checkpoint on the long path instead of one of the other ones?

UC
2S2E: Minor timing thing - Barista goes to get the coffee before the request for one.

3E: The scroll is not entirely correct. After a certain point you can drop trapdoors willy nilly.

2N4E: A more useful place for a checkpoint would be at 22,27 or 22,25.

Entrance: Challenge is awarded for entering a cleared room. Need to add the "Ineligible for Challenge" section you have in the other challenge scripts.

Will post more later if I come across anything.

The text does not say "can only be solved" but "can be solved by only".

So the challenge is to drop one trapdoor only,

I made a trap with the golems along the rightmost wall, so the 2x2 yellow door and the long horizontal one don't seem to be involved in the solution.

Kill 4 golems in the their position at move 0.

I assume this is a really fast solution :)
Of course, killing them somewhere else but not "using" them is even faster, but what exactly is "use"?

I'm up to Unsealed Stronghold in replaying the hold, and I have no further suggestions for the first three levels. For Stronghold:

Possible US in 1S6E? (I don't remember exactly how I solved it last time.) I can wake the (31,18) eye and go to (20,17) to lure it out, making the NE section trivial.

US in 5E: The room is clearable even if the queen goes into the trapdoor trap.

1N6E: Please add checkpoint in SW corner for restoring to attempt the 1N5E challenge.

Can't you just restore to 1N5E in an unconquered state if you want to try it again? Usually I'm in favor of just adding checkpoints wherever, but this one seems a bit redundant.

On an unrelated note, let me assure all you testers ahead of time that I have made no mistakes with the last plot level of the game. I will be adding a portrait and some tiles before I submit the hold.

4E: I don't remember solving this before -- maybe it previously had a US? The only solution I found was very tricky and movement-order dependent, so I hope I just overlooked an easier way.
