I thought about this for maybe 10 min or so, then I gave up and used a solver. It says that it is impossible. Any advice?

Find a solver that actually works?

(Take the final position the solver comes up with; it's only a couple of squares off the solution so should be easy to fix, though proves the solver is broken.)
