Am I the only one who just doesn't get this room? Okay, the engineer moves toward the corresponding orb when I am one step above or below the corresponding gate. I can use that to get some distance, kill a queen in either an upper or lower section, and then, using the time thingy, I can toggle the gates to escape into the central section. But that's it. I just can't seem to see the pattern in how the time thingy affects the gates and keep getting trapped. What am I missing?

It's helpful to be clear about exactly what the temporal resonator does. I don't fully understand the metaphysics behind it, but in gameplay terms, in the area covered by the resonator there are two co-existing worlds that you can flip between.

The key to this room is to make sure that any time the engineer closes a gate trapping you in one world, it's open in the other :)

I had kinda figured that out but was having trouble with the central gate mostly. Your confirmation was enough to get me past it. Thanks. UU was really helpful for double checking.

I've made it through this room (momentarily stuck on the next one), but it's precisely the metaphysics that I'm still not clear on -- or maybe I mean the mechanics. I don't think there's a flawlessly consistent™ explanation for this. I suppose the failed experiment caused the world to split somehow, and we're alternating between whatever resulted, while transporting/teleporting everyone within the area of effect.

Well, since it changes the layout of the room and not behaviour and interactions of elements within, taking into account said change you can predict those as precisely as it gets in DROD.

It doesn't seem to matter what world I am in. When he says
'gotcha' I am un able to get out of the area. I have found
no way to kill a queen without being trapped. I am very
unhappy that I have this problem, because I see no rational
solution.

The power of posting!! I have successfully killed a queen and
now I get a 'NOOOO', but can leave the area. I think I am on my way to solving it myself.

Could I have a demo please. If I am unable to understand this room, I believe I may have
to find another game to enjoy. I am unable to see any indication as to when I should switch.
The best I can do is killing two queens without being trapped, but I am unable to escape in
