For example, in the attached room, breaking the crumbly wall at (17,26) reveals a grass square, even though the crumbly wall is right next to a floor mosaic square :no

EDIT: This doesn't really matter, it's easy enough to use a Build command to get your preferred floor type.

The floor type is determined by heuristic (best guess) of the game engine. There was a long conversation many years about this which eventually led to the conclusion that changing it would probably be a lot of work and nobody really wants to do that.

I can imagine the algorithm would be complex and not worth looking into -- but surely it can't be that hard to add an override that just looks at the eight adjacent squares?

That would lead to weird situations where the floor under a wall would depend on the order you brought down the various crumbly walls in a room.

Alternatively it could be made that the game remember what floor type was placed on a tile when the broken wall was added.

But it's a bad idea.

It's staying as it is, sorry :). Not a bug.
