I think this poll, having so many options, would have been more representative if we could select more than one option.
Well, he did specify
most effectively, so really you can only choose one. I don't see why the AK-47 option gets so many (relative) votes (hope I'm not spoiling the use of the hidden vote system here), I mean, assuming he only shoots one bullett per turn, meaning he could only kill one monster per round on average, it could make for good puzzles, the only change being having a greater range. If you assume he has to turn and the shoot in two separate rounds, it would be harder than current, IMO. This is probably the knee-jerk reaction I used to see a lot when I read the Feature Requests board; often the poster would a dogmatic answer like "
No other weapons than a huge sword"
(this is the only one I can think of right now, but there are several dogmas which are part of the One True Drod). I found it kinda strange how many intelligent posters replied with a variation on "
Erik said...."
without discussing merit or lack thereof of the suggestion. But I guess it could be viewed as a way of striving for efficiency. Last time I looked at the number of new threads on that board, though....
Sorry for the digression. I voted for "
no saves and no checkpoints"
, which is basically "
limited lives"
taken up one notch. Although had the one option read "
silly, pretentious and load music
through the PC-speaker"
, it would have been a tough decision. But that's why I disconnected the speaker a long time ago. I think it was shortly after I discovered Underdogs (thanks Onei). Apropos, what the heck is cowboyneal?
