I'd select : To let b0rsuk rewrite the code from scratch, but I don't know how good b0rsuk is in programming.

I don't like games with monthly fees. It's okay if you pay when you get the game, but if you play a game for a year with monthly fees, you'd have pay quite large amount of cash.

I don't like games with monthly fees either, but I don't think that a monthly fee would actually ruin the gameplay, just your wallet.

I voted for the no saves, no checkpoints. The thought of having to replay KDD from the beginning of the first level every time you died or got stuck (for example making the usual mistake in the last room on L25) is actually quite frightening...

What was this supposed to say? If it was no way to restart the room, then I probably would have voted for it.

As far as monthly fees go...it actually ends up saving money if you're the kind of person who buys lots of games. Since starting to play EQ, I've spent much less money on video games than I used to, simply because it takes 2-3 months of the fees to equal buying a new game, and I used to buy a new game (or several used ones) of some kind at least once a month. If you only play freeware games, then of course it's more expensive, so it's all relative.

I voted for limited deaths...there have been other puzzle games where a death limit ruined the game for me. Time limit I can deal with a bit better, but it's still not as fun (depends on how it's implemented).

Game on,

I think this poll, having so many options, would have been more representative if we could select more than one option.

Well, he did specify most effectively, so really you can only choose one. I don't see why the AK-47 option gets so many (relative) votes (hope I'm not spoiling the use of the hidden vote system here), I mean, assuming he only shoots one bullett per turn, meaning he could only kill one monster per round on average, it could make for good puzzles, the only change being having a greater range. If you assume he has to turn and the shoot in two separate rounds, it would be harder than current, IMO. This is probably the knee-jerk reaction I used to see a lot when I read the Feature Requests board; often the poster would a dogmatic answer like "No other weapons than a huge sword" (this is the only one I can think of right now, but there are several dogmas which are part of the One True Drod). I found it kinda strange how many intelligent posters replied with a variation on "Erik said...." without discussing merit or lack thereof of the suggestion. But I guess it could be viewed as a way of striving for efficiency. Last time I looked at the number of new threads on that board, though....

Sorry for the digression. I voted for "no saves and no checkpoints", which is basically "limited lives" taken up one notch. Although had the one option read "silly, pretentious and load music through the PC-speaker", it would have been a tough decision. But that's why I disconnected the speaker a long time ago. I think it was shortly after I discovered Underdogs (thanks Onei). Apropos, what the heck is cowboyneal?

P.S. I have say, Mike, I laugh every time I read your sig.

LOL - it's usually the final option in any poll on slashdot.

B0rsuk is so good at coding that he usually makes several errors when copying a simple program from the book.

About weapons - it could get tricky if someone forced Beethro to use a ... dagger instead of his sword.
Dagger would kill basically in same way as monsters do. (Range 0, perhaps no turning around needed)
