If a user doesn't have an avatar, I think we should just leave that space next to their post empty instead of showing a broken link.

Erm... it already works like that. At least, it does for me (look at Matt C and Tim, for example).

The broken link only shows up (I assume) if they link to a non-existant avatar in their profile.

When I first signed up, it showed a broken link, until I changed it to my little confused smilie.

Yeah, I think I understand it now. When you register, it starts out the "Avatar" text box with "http://". If you don't delete the "http://" it will interpret this as the new URL. So maybe we just need on the registration form, something which replaces "http://" with empty text after the form submits.

Oh Geez.... The forum never used to do this - this happened when we changed servers, so it's been around for quite a while now. How embarassing. I've fixed the bug, and I fixed all existing users who had "http://" as their avatar and/or their home page.
