Could some code be added to the holds forum such that when a hold is ranked by another user, that user gains rank points equal to the overall rating initially given by the person ranking it?

To say it a little more clearly, you upload a hold, someone ranks it 4 brains and 8/10. You then get 8 rank points. That same person then decides they like it even more, and rank it up to a 9. You are not affected by this change.

Whaddayathink?

I think this would be a much easier way to get mod points than waiting for post rankings. So, certainly.

Something like this is already in the works. It won't be exactly like that, but it will be based on, among other things, how it's rated by other forumites.

I won't give any more details than that right now, mostly because I don't HAVE any more details than that right now.

I notice some people have already tried to give rank points to holds, except the rank points go to 'admin' rather than the author. That could perhaps also be changed.

Actually we were tired of such a high-ranking person only having ten rank points, we modded Admin up out of pity.
