GatEB has its own built-in tutorial. You might have missed it (if so, then you're not the first).

Press "T" in the main menu for the tutorial.

If you need more, well, GatEB is its own tutorial. If you play and finish all the 30 (or more, can't remember) levels of GatEB, then you will understand a lot about the enemies.
