It's time again to follow our forum tradition of holding public voice auditions for new voice parts in
DROD: The Second Sky!
Like past games, the upcoming game has a good-sized cast. We're reprising many roles, like A1 and Halph. We've lined up the original voice actors for these parts, but there are also several all-new characters making their debut. We're giving you a chance to become those characters!
Since we don't want to spoil the plot, this post contains some sample lines from some vague characters to give you something to work with. Feel free to audition for one or multiple characters.
This topic header has some tips about the kind of voice recordings we're after. In short, make clean recordings, with clear speech. Be expressive and creative. Feel free to ad-lib if you're inspired.
You don't have to voice all the parts below, but I suggest you try as many as you think you might do a good job with so we can experience the range of your expression, and also the level of recording quality you are able to provide.
Post your audition files in this thread, preferably in a compressed format like MP3 so it's easier for people to download and listen to them.
If we like your recording, the Caravel Team will be shoulder-tapping you in a similar manner as happened for previous games and SmSs. If you are selected, you will be featured in the list of contributors and also
receive a free copy of the game when it is released!

Here are some of the roles we're looking for. There will be others you can participate in if you're picked and you have interest in voicing additional parts.
An Archivist: "
Well, I will offer you just one penultimate chance to apologize for your insult."
An Imperial Citizen: "
Speak your name for access verification."
A male surfacer: "
That was so cool! You've gotta see it! Gotta. See! IT!"
A sentient machine: "
Entrance is denied. You did not respect the rules of this place."
A female surfacer: "
He just likes to come around here and watch me do my research."
Narrator:
"
Before Chemist was ever a job, there was a rather clandestine sect in the Rooted Empire called The Alchemists, or so the dustier of our Annals tell us. I say 'sect' as if your chosen function in life, as determined by your vat recipe, is something other than your chemical makeup. But that raises the question, doesn't it? What came before the first vat-born? No, I think this is a truth we need to consider: the Empire's entire current structure is hinged upon the brilliance of past individuals who were decidedly not vat-born. Thus, an observation must be made that calls into question the efficacy of our current system..."

If you're the least bit adventurous or confident -- or you just want to try something new, or have been waiting for entire months of your life to get involved in TSS -- and you have a half-decent mic, step right up and give your best shot at a recording!
