I'm missing something.

I can get a high speed clone to the mud baby, but the other me hasn't time to get out after the baby dies.

What am I not considering?

By a happy coincidence, I was playing this hold just yesterday. I was also stuck on this part for a while, then felt pretty silly when I figured it out. One of those not-seeing-the-forest-for-the-trees situations.
