I love level 12. Its the easiest level with serpents and its fun to trap them. But the worst monster is the brain. I Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaate them with a CAPITAL "H". :angry

I think you should have left spiders out of the monster list, since even Eric himself dislikes them, and for a good reason.

Definitely love level 16 :D :D
And I really hate Spiders. Well it's not that I really dislike them... it's the color I don't like; levels with spiders always left me with red bulging and burning eyes.

Bye.

You know, I thought that way more people would vote for tar.

Nah, tar (and especially living tar) is fun. Spiders stink though! (Or, maybe, they should stink, so they were easier to spot. *G*)

I always wondered about that whole thing. If the creator of DROD didn't like a monster, then why did he create it? As surely, the whole point of DROD is to have fun? :?

This is all from memory:
Essentially, spiders were created because they were out of ideas for level ten, and Erik programmed it to take over the tar baby in Level 10 only, meaning that in Webfoot it would have been impossible to have both a spider and a tar baby in the same room.

I'd be interested to see what they do for JtRH spiders....

I think your memory's broke, DiMono.

If we got rid of spiders, it'd break a whole host of AE rooms. Like or lump it, spiders are here to stay.

Not necessarily....
IF $MONSTER = $SPIDER
  THEN REPLACE WITH $ROACH
PRINT "SPIDERS NO LONGER EXIST"
PRINT "ALL SPIDERS IN THIS HOLD"
PRINT "wILL BE REPLACED WITH ROACHES"
END

Yes, I know it's in Basic...

Where did you get this code? Is there more out there? I'm pretty sure we didn't commit it to SourceForge yet.
Yes, I know it's in Basic...
Mike, has it been made public that some of the additions to JtRH are in embedded scripting languages?

Hmm...I think that's the thugs' way of saying they want more money to keep performing the dirty work.

I don't think that spiders should be removed. They mat be a pain sometimes, but they make for good puzzles in "Palace" levels. And we could just keep all the old tilesets for JtRH, plus the new ideas. I don't see any reason to get rid of any tilesets.

ah.. but it wouldnt be palace tilesets if you think about it, because unless Erik is really running out of ideas then it would be another colour that would just be really annoying to see spiders on..

I read somewhere on the forum that only 9 tilesets were possible to have without changing stuff. I forgot where.

Well, you can still just make 9 new styles and they would be applied to the old levels too.

If that does happen, there will hopefully be one with the same floor color as the Palace tileset, so we don't have to remove spiders. Spiders would have an even bigger role in game if my Basilisk feature request was implemented into JtRH.

Alternately you could just change the spiders color...

Oh, and don't worry. I remember Erik saying spiders are still in, whether you like it or not.

It all depends whether the new DROD will be the same as the old one. In graphical ability.
