Ok, so apparently I haven't learned the lesson I was meant to. Any tips? I assume that I need to drop trapdoors only on the east, but I cannot find a combination that makes the east go slower.

What have you learned about briar that could help not only slow down growth here, but limit its growth?

Ok. for some reason I am completely unable to understand this whole "no grow on diagonal thing." I tried making sense of the things shown in the previous room about pits, but I just cannot understand what it is that is going on with the whole pit thing. Can someone explain this to me in a way that I can understand? Most of the things in the AC holds I understand perfectly, but for some reason this is just evading me.

I know it should help, but for some reason it doesn't. I feel so stupid in this room for some reason. Can anyone simplify the concept for me?

I don't have access to my save or demo for this room but I'm pretty sure that I know what must be done.
The most important point for this room is that you have to limit(not slow, since speed isn't an issue here) the briar's growth on the eastern side by dropping the trapdoors. The mechanic used is that:

×A square of briar with a pit next to it will not grow diagonally in any direction, not just around the pit. If you do this correctly in this room, you can make the east side grow two squares shorter by preventing it from growing around the corners.

How do I get to 3E without finishing this room? I'm stuck. I think I've tried every combination of 2 trap doors on the east side
