Yeah, that's about what I expected. Everyone's guesses become public at the end of a round.
The tricky part is that "
each player gets a PM with one of the characters in the combination"
. This means you have to pay close attention to other people's guesses, in an attempt to derive their strategy. With enough guesswork, you might even be able to figure out what they were told in their PM, based upon what their guessing strategy is.
We have a particularly long string to guess - it could have as many as 15 to 30 characters in it - so there's going to be a long history of guesses to examine.
Of course, you can only write a computer program to help you once you know what you're looking for
