So, I love designing board games; I recently designed one that's a strategy game designed for 3 players. It's got similarities to Tantrix and Quarto - everything has to have inspiration somewhere, right?

Anyway, the attached (and in the secret tag) are pictures of the pieces. The board is the thing on the right. The labels of the hexes and the pieces are simply so this can be played online.
Click here to view the secret text

How the game is played is as follows:

Each player is randomly (and secretly) assigned a colour.

Each round:
- Player A chooses a piece.
- Player B chooses a hex on the board for it to be placed on.
- Player C rotates the hex to his desired orientation.
Then Player A becomes Player C, etc. for the next round.

Obviously, there is one piece left over at the end of the game, but that's kinda irrelevant. At the end of the game, each player scores one point for each hex connected to that player's colour. So, for example, if C1 was in hex 2 and C2 was in hex 5 in the same orientation that they're pictured, the player whose colour was green would get 2 points and yellow would get 1 point. Colours which belong to no player don't give anyone points. The same hex can be scored multiple times (even by the same player) and doesn't decrease in value if that happens.

Hexes A5 and B5 are special - the shaded out portions block the connected colour, and are worth no points. So if A5 were in hex 1 in the same orientation as it's pictured, Purple and Blue would get 1 point, and Red would get no points.

The game ends when all the spaces are filled.

So, any takers?

As soon as there are 3 players, I'll send PMs telling them their colours, and announce the game start. I'll update the game progress with pictures to make it easy to tell what's going on. If there is lots of interest, I'll start a second game in a second thread.

PS: Name suggestions for the game are welcomed.

EDIT: Tiebreakers:
The player tied for the most points who controls the largest contiguous area wins. If still tied, ignore that area and look at the next largest.

Can I be purple?

Oh, wait, it's random...

I'll play anyway. :)

Sure, I'll try this out. I have some spare time and can probably give you some feedback when all is said and done.

Name suggestion:

"Appelhaken". To be pronounced "Apple hackin'".

Because: "The four color theorem was proven in 1976 by Kenneth Appel and Wolfgang Haken."

Well, and also because it's fun to say. :)

I can play so long as you're not expecting the game to move quickly.

You should call it "The Bridges of Madison County". The license is probably pretty cheap by now.

Alright, consider the game begun! For the first round:
Dischorran will pick which piece will be played.
Chaco will choose the location.
Panther will rotate the piece as desired.

I will update the first post with a picture of the current state of the game whenever necessary.

Oh, and it's perfectly fine (and probably best) to just post your move in this thread.

Hex 10? What on earth am I supposed to do with that, Panther?

Rotate it once counterclockwise before dropping it in.

I pick the one given in the diagram.

I've been filling in the spaces to make it clear who gets which points. Here, though, as two players get points from that area, I'm just leaving it blank.

I don't think there's supposed to be a solid wall between hexes 4 and 8 - I'm pretty sure there's supposed to be a contiguous region there which lies both in 4 and 8.

Yeah, would you like me to display it like that? I'll draw it as a dotted line - then it'll still be able to be counted easily.

Yeah, the dotted line is much better.

I also think the very thin black line separating the blue region in hex #8 and the empty hex #13 is fine too - since it's much thinner than the walls in the already-placed pieces.

I'm pretty sure the border between hexes 1 and 4 should be a dotted line; there's a contiguous region that lies in both of those hexes.
