C h a l l e n g e !
 Dugan's Dungeon - Third Seventeenth Level: Once north

This one is not for tar haters:

Make it so that you are standing on the checkpoint, and the entire room marked by 1 above (i.e. everything beyond the final door) is filled with tar, and has no tar babies in it, before killing the mother.

Ummm...I don't think it's possible to get it as you described. There are one or two spots where I think tar babies must grow if the entire space is to be filled with tar. I just tested it, and there is no possible way to both avoid tar babies growing and have the space full of tar. Please clarify this challenge.

It appears that you will need more than 40 moves to successfully clear enough tar to get the setup you described when it next grows, so I think it to be impossible. However, I am prone to making mistakes and so I might be wrong...

Of course it's possible - I'd never post a challange that I hadn't completed myself.

Here's a screenshot of the state of the room once the challange is completed:

while (Challenge_Not_Solved == true){
PlayDROD();
Other_Life--;
Eye_Stress++;
}
Post_On_Drod.net();

Solved it. Very long and mostly waiting.

Tar babies do grow in about five places; note that in the screenshot the topmost yellow door is open.

Oh, I thought you meant that you need to be standing on the checkpoint with all the tar of the lower areas intact.

Sorry! (I told you I'm prone to mistakes)

I probably wasn't very clear... I had a hard time finding a phrasing which describes the situation without posting the screenshot (which I didn't want to do because my webspace is limited and I often remove unnecessary things, which means that eventually it will become a dead link)

Man, it took me 2352 moves to get this one, during which time I killed 514 monsters.

I'm not sure whats worse the number of moves it took or the fact that you counted them.
