I've been stuck on this room for many months -- not constantly, I've completed other holds while just retrying this periodically. I even restarted Dan's Dungeon in DROD 4 and easily got to this point again, figuring that greater facility would carry me through this time. But again I'm stopped.

I think my basic approach must be wrong. I never even get to the last 3 or 4 rock giants before getting killed by the slayer (occasionally, for a change, I find myself blocked behind a wall of rubble where the slayer can't get at me but nobody can do anything). So I am requesting some hints about procedure or geography in this room that will get me through it. Thanks!

I'm pretty sure this room is possible without doing what I did, but to save you some time, here's a (partial) demo of the room in which I kill the slayer. After that, it's all about carefully smiting rock giants.

That did it! It took me a couple dozen starts to duplicate the one series of moves that would let me kill the slayer, but once I got that far, the rest followed easily -- thanks to your generous help. Onward!
