Final Version Here!!

I am once again having fun writing a little windows game.

The game is called Snake Bite. I have started by basically recreating my original game from 1994 which amazingly enough was boxed and sold in Kmart type stores briefly.

Mike was kind enough to allow me to use the DROD graphics.

The game is a single executable created using Game Maker. It creates a save file also. Please enjoy testing it and respond with any comments/suggestions to this thread.


I will post the original Snake Bite in the next post for those interested.

Here is my original Snake Bite from 1994.

Just unzip then run using DOSBox.

I ran it with no problems first try!

Look up dosbox with google or ask me if you want help.

Some global comments (haven't played this very long, and it's bedtime)

1. Disable F1 (and perhaps other unintended gamemaker keys.)

2. "Copright" on the main screen?

3. What are those tunnel tiles used for?

4. The game starts too slow. I've spent minutes just to finish the first few boring levels. If I need to spend many boring minutes every time just to reach/see the later levels, then I don't want to play it again.

Otherwise, it's a simple nice working snake game. I'm also glad the snake's speed is not too fast. I haven't seen more of it to say more about it.

PS. You should also design a better scoring system. I'll look up one for you tomorrow.

The speed can't be changed more than once each time you visit the title screen. Other than that, pretty good!

> This can be a problem. In my original I allow starting on any level but only record high scores if one starts on level 1. Also, in the original I had the snake speed up by length. I think this is a good idea.

Ad 3: Have you checked out my Snake Budkin? I have made a logic-snake game in DROD: RPG :). I think the idea is nice but I am not a skilled architect so I couldn't make rooms. Feel free to steal any idea from there!


(btw, I did not try your game yet, so if what I wrote is completely pointless please ignore me)

I'm pretty happy with this recreation of my original Snake Bite. Please feel free to enjoy playing this and make any comments/suggestions.
