The hint says to lure a few into the starting corridor. I just don't see how this is possible, except maybe by taking shelter behind the mimic potion (which I actually just thought of right now ). What I finally figured out (after many, many failures) is to point my sword southeast and just bust out of the east edge of the corridor, backswiping my way up to around where the marker is. By that time, I'd whittled down enough of the eastern group that they were all willing to line up and be killed the standard way.

Did anyone else use a similar technique here?

No, and that's probably a much more difficult way of doing it. What most people do is

The first time I completed that room I did that same technique, except I headed to the west.

I kept getting surrounded before, unless I used the mimic - except I need the mimic elsewhere...
