I wanted to play today, so when I clicked "DROD: Architect's Edition", it came up with "Who are you?" as normal, but when I pressed "Continue" the game just crashed. It does the same with pressing "Build" and "Restore". What could be the problem? I really want to play...

This is most definitely a bug. If I were you, I'd not open DROD anymore. Copy the .dat files and the .err file, as well as the stderr.txt file if it is still on the desktop and put them in a .zip file. Post this problem on the Bugs board, and Mike will probably ask you to send the files to him.

You should also record exactly what you were doing just before DROD crashed, so that he can try to find out what went wrong. You probably managed to open two instances of DROD at different times (which is how mine crashed), but I'm only guessing.
