There's no real "trick" to this room - it's just a matter of building enough distance between yourself and the serpents to be able to hit an orb and survive the way back.
The best way to do that is to get obstacles between you and the serpents, and to remember that you can always gain distance between yourself and a serpent by moving diagonally away from it.
And always, always, make sure your sword is facing the right way before entering an alcove.
