in rooms like 3S (I assume there are more like it) do I have to go through all the tar and kill all the tar babies to clear the room and finish this level. I've killed the snakes. OH yes I would like the secreted hint for this room

This doesn't need secreting.

Tar babies count as monsters so if you leave the room with even 1 alive the room is not counted as complete.

No, you don't.

As long as there are no tar babies or tar mothers, the room should be green and cleared.
