How do you use the pickaxe. I tried the tab key and every other key and nothing happens. Maybe I can't use it here to get at the pressure plate. All help greatly appreciated. Thank You

The pickaxe breaks walls, not doors. It won't break obstacles either. From the picture, I believe the pressure plate will open the door, though I haven't played this hold, so I'm not sure.

Yeah, the pressure plate opens the door. I don't think I ever found out the proper way to get to the plate when I played through the hold.
