Apparently Eoin Colfer (Artemis Fowl) is currently writing the sixth Hitchhiker's book, while someone is completing The Salmon of Doubt as a Dirk Gently novel.

I'd heard about the 6th hhgttu (what a horrible acroynm), but I hadn't heard about the other one. Why exactly does someone want to rewrite salmon of a doubt?

Not the collection, the novel. The main part of the collection was an unfinished draft of the third Dirk Gently book, The Salmon of Doubt.

Normally I would be a tad angry about this, but the third, fourth and fifth radio series were all up to Adams' standards, so I think maybe they can do right by me.

Considering the fact that I loved first five Artemis Fowl books (I am yet to find the sixth in a bookstore) I have really high hopes for the new Hitchhiker, although that's very subjective opinion.

Dang, now I want to buy Hitchhiker's books three, four and five...

He also wrote a weird little religious fable that I forget the name of, but that is also good.

And you really need to read three four and five. Well, at least three, I honestly don't remember much about four except for Marvin and a bizarre sex scene at 30,000 feet and Adams himself has stated that five was the result of "having a bad year", although I personally believe it is a joyful turn towards unbelievably bleak black humor.

No, Arthur learns to fly in three.

And the final three radio series were based on the final three novels. At the time they were made Adams was dead, although Simon Jones (voice of Arthur) was not.

I'm not sure if I would recommend you to bother; even book three is nowhere near the standard of the first two, and it goes downhill rapidly from there. Still, it is Douglas Adams, so of course they all have some great moments and quotations.

You really should look out for the sixth Artemis Fowl though.

I consider the third book the peak of the series, as do most fans.

I didn't even know there was a sixth Artemis Fowl book.
