So, this thread is yet another game of continue the story... or is it? Instead of creating a story from the beginning, let's try to recreate it from the end.

The rules are simple. I begin by posting the last sentence of the story. The next poster writes the next-to-last sentence. The third poster write the second-to-last sentence etc. Here's the end of the story:

Pete got back on his feet, picked up his sword and went home.

You continue.

Erm, I don't think you get the point. You're supposed to write the story backwards, and you posted an opening sentence.

no...eb0ny posted the last sentence. I posted the sentence before the last sentence. And anyway what's the problem if mine was an opening sentence? It would make it a complete story.

For some reason, the grocery store receptionist threw a cat at Pete. Pete wasn't allergic to cats, but he didn't like them, so...

Of course, coming off of his recent victory, he was in need of nourishment--perhaps a large peach or a moderately sized apple would do nicely--so it was straight off to the grocery store, as that is the location where one can most easily obtain both of those fruits.

The old lady stated that Q must indeed always be followed by a U, and thus Pete's name was misspelled. Pete claimed that his name had neither a Q nor a U in it.

I don't see how the grocery store receptionist could not have been an old lady.

Anyway:

It worried him of course, and why shouldn't it? He had, of course, been told that there was no use in this worrying, and had long ago decided that not only worry, but all negative emotions must be repressed. He was beginning to see that occasionally a reaction is warranted, and he would need to react soon. He tried to hide his limp as he struggled to his car, and was overjoyed at the success of the operation.

Bigwig, when he says continue the story, he means from the sentence, and something that makes sense. You just posted another opening line that in no way leads into my passage.

But just when Pete was making his way towards the exit, he spotted a familiar blue silhouette behind shiny bars of a cage. It was a tar baby. Pete's hands began shaking and he felt an all too familiar sensation in his right leg.

"well it isn't really cheese". They argued for quite a while in the supermarket and attracted quite a crowd. It was a while before anyone stepped in to try and stop the carnage, but when they did everyone gasped as the individual spontaneously morphed into a pile of off cabbages. Suddenly, someone in the crowd shouted "Hey that's more than just a sentence" and threw a packet of crisps at pete, who was too busy arguing with the baked bean can to notice the packet of crisps that was about to hit him. Pete was knocked off his feet and fell into unconciousness. When he woke up he was in a hell hole, with no sense of direction, time, or where he was, he stood up.
