Many of the ideas are neat, but I don't think they fit with the idea base too well.
Think about the actual Olympic sport. In that sport, they literally hurl themselves across large distances on three meter long poles. I don't think a roach has either the physical nor mental capacity for that, so most monsters would not be able to do that.
Although it would be consistent for
every monster to not be able to pole vault, a bit of realism has to come to mind. While I was discussing this idea with two goblins and an aumtlich , I wondered if it should be that slayers, guards, and stalwarts should be able to vault too. I thought about while they spoke to the mothingness, and decided it would be too complex.
Not that the entire idea of monster vaulting is lost. While I made a break for it, I came to the conclusion that mimics can vault as well. I also decided that there should be a law that governs the (ab)use of this new element. As soon as I got stuck in impractically large amounts of tar, I had an epiphany about the law.
"
As soon as you, a clone, or a mimic is vaulted, all vault arrows across the room are silenced and will fade. During this time, no vaulting may take place. After a single turn passes, vault arrows un-fade, allowing their use again. This means that if you, a clone, or a mimic was standing on a faded vault arrow, you would instantaneously be vaulted ahead, without waiting a turn from when the arrow un-faded to when you vaulted to the next tile."
Unfortunately, I got caught by a poppy brigade. I am now typing this to you from a cell made entirely from mud. For some unusual reason, the 500$ shovel of mine can't seem to dig through this.
