I believe I know what to do, but I've tried several different ways and always run out of decoys.

As a hint, what's the best order to tackle the brains?

Correct.
Which direction were your decoys pointing?

This was a room took me a while to figure out. (At least how to do it the intended way: my sneaky unintended solution was sadly made impossible.) It involved watching carefully the pattern of the fegundo moves and some trial & error. It might help to think along the lines of a certain chess piece.

Edit: And let me take this opportunity to thank Dischorran for all those lovely checkpoints. They were much appreciated!

I have understood the logic of the room, but I have tried and retried but I don't succeed in finding the correct position where to put the decoys... Some other help?

Well, I'm totally stuck here. I understand what I need to do but don't think I'll ever manage to do it(or maybe I'm mising the real solution which is easier than I think). Some big hints are really appreciated.

EDIT: Well, after posting this I've managed to kill three of four brains, but I'm out of decoys...

Which brain are you missing? Or maybe you could post your demo and I can let you know where you might be going wrong.

Look in the secret text in my post three posts above your first post. It had sword position information. Also look in my first reply for the order for brain killing.

I can kill all four brains now, but unfortunately after killing the westmost brain I have to wait one turn without turning mimic, so briar hit the pressure plate.

Here's how I've placed mimics:

Is there anything wrong with the placement of mimics?

Whoa, thanks, your hint showed me that I've placed fourth decoy wrong, now I've finally mastered the hold.
