I would appreciate some help with this room. Obviously I need to find a way to keep the tar baby from forming in the center tar area before I can open the door to kill the mother.

Try thinking about the room a little differently. It's impossible to prevent a tar baby from forming in the central area before you kill the mother. You're going to be stuck with it.

What can you do to ensure that you'll be able to kill that tar baby?

Thanks for the response. I guess I can fill the channel with babies to keep the tar from closing off that area but then I get babies in the upper area as well. I must be missing something obvious.

I have finished about 23 rooms in this hold but in spite of all the good advice I just can't figure out how to do what I know needs to be done. As an aged player I am sure I am missing something obvious. I can't keep the babies under the growing tar while I move up to the NE door.
I am ashamed to admit I am still going nowhere.

I really need more help. Possibly even a demo sent to my PM so I don't ruin this room for everyone else.

Despite the detailed hints.. I cannot solve this room. I'm not sure whether I am supposed to clear the northwest blob after it spawns the babies I require because if not, I can't seem to get the rest of the job done before it spawns again and I cannot reach the babies.
Could someone please post a demo (in an older version of DROD)? I have 3.0.0 and cannot update to a newer version.

Don't wait for the NW blob to spawn babies. Stab it to create the babies you need.

If needed, I've attached a screenshot showing what the room should look like before you start the long trip to the orb.

And I highly recommend playing the latest version of DROD. 3.0.0 contains bugs that cause some rooms not to work properly. If your reason for not updating is because you have a Mac and you don't have CaravelNet, you can email support with your 3.0.0 purchase information to get a free download link for the latest version.

and I will do as you recommend and see if I can get the update.
I know I did ask once before but never received a response so I'll definately try again.
