icon Alternative Hold Ending (+2)  
When playing through the hold normally, you go through all the different levels of the hold until you reach the end, which is where the ending text makes sense.

But what if you took that staircase to the master level on the fifth level (out of eight levels)? The most probable way of exiting that master level is by ending the hold. Unfortunately, since the master level probably contains new information that you'd want to reiterate in the hold ending text, you want to make a special alternative hold ending with different text.

So what I'm saying here is that there should be "2nd ending", maybe even a "3rd ending" for when you end the hold through an indirect level and want to make a special 2nd ending text for that.

Maybe this should be made like this: if you click Editor -> Settings -> Ending, you get a list of possible endings, with the ability to add\remove\edit endings. And when you choose a level entrance for the stairs or for "Go to level entrance" command, you should probably get a window with two lists - of entrances and of endings.

In other words, this is a great idea. :D

You can already change Description/Ending text through clever use of variables. Not sure how, but it's most certainly possible.

Elfstone's hold, Castle Steele, is an example of a hold with two different ending texts depending on whether you've conquered or postmastered the hold.

Making that work with text variables turned out to be a very clunky process. Text variables have a character limit. So instead of having one variable $endtext$, she had to divide her ending paragraphs up and store the pieces in a series of variables, and have the Hold Ending be $endtext1$ $endtext2$ $endtext3$ $endtext4$ $endtext5$ ... etc. It's inconvenient to edit ending text like that, as when you look at a character's script displayed in the editor, it doesn't wrap long lines.

So, even though it's possible now to create a hold with several different ending texts, I still like this feature request.

Actually, text variables don't have an easily reachable character limit. A single command line where you place a value into a variable does have a limit, but you can circumvent that by using the Add Text command:

Set var endtext = "<first part of message>"
Set var endtext += "<second part of message>"
Set var endtext += "<third part of message>"

This, as well as good use of the $\n$ token for newlines, allows for complete rewriting of any Level Entrance and Hold Ending in just about any way possible.

But yes, it isn't exactly a very friendly method.

You could also do what the official holds do beyond the master walls - just not have an ending staircase. You've been the hold already!
