Use the first altar four times before the first boss fight, and still complete the hold.

(Only tested on Tower of the Sorceror so far, but if it's possible there it really should be possible on Tendry's Tale as well.)

Oddly, I think it might even be possible to defeat the archivist under this handicap, with some optimisation.

Okay, with some slight optimisation, I finished with this:

HP: 880
ATK: 500
DEF: 379
Gr: 55

Of course, nowhere near enough ATK to defeat the Archivist (generally you need 520 or so to beat him, and much higher HP). Is it possible to defeat him with this huge handicap? Possibly -- but it would probably require the most optimised run of all time. I did upgrade my defence a few times in this run, too...

So I finally came around to doing this challenge again. It turns out that, despite this handicap, it's still possible to defeat the Archivist. Here were my stats before the fight:



I was able to employ pretty much the same strategy I used for doing the archivist challenge normally -- the obvious difference being a shortage of greckles.
