It seems that the Wraithwings lesson was a little elusive on my DROD College...

Anyway, it is not too hard to get that last wraithwing to the east of you.

Aaah... sneaky.

Oneiros has updated it then, because in my version, the first red door isn't there and the other red and green have switched position. Sorry.

Yes, sorry, there were some slight updates between the versions on the Architecture board and the one on the Holds board. They actually are documented on the Architecture, but I know it's not always expected for there to be a change between the two versions.

In any case, I made the changes to prevent people from killing the wraithwings quickly, then running back to the room to the West and then coming back and just waltzing through.

Game on,

Yes, I figured out how to do that already, but I can't get it up from the SE corner.
Finally I can do it (I have been studying my WW lessons... hehhe).

Thanks for the help, anyway! It encourages me to keep trying.

Regards!

I'm also having trouble, in 5E (picture) I've tried it a few different ways, but I really can't see how to do it.

I think your approach is more logic, but I want to know what was the intended solution... oneiro?

Both of you are probably doing my intended solution, just being kind of confusing about where in the solution you are (i.e., just getting it started vs. the middle of the room). Basically...

Well, Oneiro!!

That's EXACTLY what I did

I'm glad having found your very solution on my own, being so vague in this case

And cheers for a really GREAT hold (I'm finishing The Horde now, wait for my angry if it gets harder later... hehehhehe) :thumbsup

Regards

Thanks for the compliments, lanark. The Horde is the final level, so you're nearly done. And I apologize in advance if the final stairs don't give you the ending, my hold seemed to be among the first to have these problems...or perhaps that's because Treasure Hunt was the first hold on the Holds page. In any case, if you don't get the ending, e-mail me and I'll be happy to send you an Anyone Edit version.

So far, so good.

I'm really frustrated as how tough is The Horde 1N.

When I get no fun anymore and get frustrated once and again for a zillion times, it turns all the fun and cleverness you put in this hold in plain sadness.

May be I'm not a hard enough DRODer, but with many many holds happens to me the same.

There are too much luck involved in this room, and it seems just too hard to obtain more fun from it.

I navigate all the comments on this room, and I will give a general opinion on the architecture comments.
My thought is that the "testers" who take the architecture holds to try them are a kind of "elite force" that solve room after room with amazing easiness, and the holds get in the end too hard for the medium player. I'm not talking about target holds for the casual player, I'm NOT a casual player. I'm talking about taking a good designed hold as this, and finding a room (the hardest one) to be not-as-hard as the tougtest player can have troubles, then highen the difficulty of the puzzle so it becomes the hard-than-ever room.
Then, a happy and hopefull player (me) gets the hold, and gains room after room working hard and glad of his own cleverness, until arrives to the harder-than-ever room and all the fun is gone. Why?

Anyway, I got fun until then, so Cheers!! and thanks for a really cool hold (except for The Horde 1N... hehhehhehe)

Regards
Lanark

Yeah, I recognize the difficulty of this room...I honestly wasn't trying to make it super difficult...it was more of an "artist's conceit" that I really wanted to enforce a certain solution, because I thought it was an interesting one.

Honestly, I think that there are some tougher rooms in the hold than this one...the "final" room in The Horde is tougher but in a simple hack and slash kind of way...and the eyeball room in The Vault kills me a few times every time I play through it.

As for The Horde 1N...can you get to the checkpoint? The start of the room is the toughest part, but there's a definite path to take that has been discussed elsewhere on the board. It's kind of about tactics...figure out the best place to enter from, achieve your objective, and then you're almost home free.

In any case, I'd be happy to post a demo for you if you wish.

My apologize for the rant of my former post. May be it's not the way I saw it, and frustration get me to the thoughts I expressed. :blush

Thank you for your kind response, I'll let stay the room for a time and then will try again, as all of we do with this kind of challenges.

BTW, the final Horde room is not that tought, I think... I beat it in a couple of tries, may be it has a more logical behaviour.

It's a very good hold, as I wrote before, and as all good ones, it prompt all kind of feelings... hehhehe

Keep trying!!!

Regards
Lanark

Doh...I never did upload the correct version of my hold...the one that has the "final" room not required and blocked off with a blue door...I could have sworn that I did that. Ah well, it doesn't change things too much.

I do have a demo of 1N ready for you, though, if you beat your head against it some more and still can't beat it.

Thank you very much, but I want to try it on my own for now. The first part was no problem, the frustration comes on the last part... quite elusive beast!!

EDIT: I DID IT!!! :w00t

Having do 1S the last leaves me with a great feeling of happiness
