I can't seem to figure out what the point of this room is besides a couple freebies ...the pressure plates don't do anything on my side of the wall, do they on the other side and I can't see it?

oops, my bad - my screen doesn't always show stuff at the bottom of the room, drag cuz i miss stuff sometimes (the first couple practice run-throughs lol)

Just to cover everything, I *believe* that you use the mimic to hold down the pressure plates, opening the black doors next to the Soulless. Doing this will make killing a soulless possible (moreso that is). The red door will open when the trapdoors underneath the soulless are killed, which then lets you hit the orb that opens the door to the south.

That pretty much covers the whole room.
