MMGs Dungeon Reloaded : Seventh Level - Restoration : 1 North (0)

When I hit the orb that opens the spiders' door I always get killed by the mud baby. I can't think how to block it. My first thought was the snake but it can't get past the message square. Second thought was a mimic, but I need them all elsewhere.

What am I missing?

The magic of the forum worked - I found the solution after I posted, but thanks for the answer. If it wasn't for you and helpful people like you I'd be stuck in a hold way way back there somewhere.

I should pay more attention to what orbs do which.
