Ever wanted to introduce your own interpretation of a sound alike of Santa while making a DROD RPG level set? No? Well you lie, good sir, because everyone wants to!

That's right. For the christmas contest I'm keeping things simple. All you have to do is create a DROD RPG level set which some how incudes something called the Sand Tar (and if your feeling game, a sand tar cause) and you could WIN! What this Sand Tar could be is up to you. It could be monster, it could be an object. It could be an abstract concept.

Rules

You must make an RPG Hold

You must in some how include the words Sand Tar, in that order.

To enter, you must submit your hold into this submission topic. The submission topic is a special topic which only lets you and me see your hold.

You must have fun!

Voting Criteria
Voters will vote on how well the level set is presented visually, how well it is designed gameplay wise, and how entertaining it is. Bonus points for a good use of Sand Tar

Timing
Entries must be in by the Local Time:12-31-2008 at 12:00 PM, that's right, in negative 547 weeks.

Tips
Don't be afraid to post questions in the RPG Architecture Board if you have any questions. People don't like to copy, so don't worry about plagarism.

Prizes
First prize wins a pick from the prize pile, and 100 rank points.
Second prize wins 50 rank points
Third Prize wins 25 rank points

Any criteria about how long it should be? 2 levels, 3 levels, 10^100 levels?

Although I'd recommend you keep it short, there's no limit.

Well I think I might participate in this. Scripting the Sand Tar sounds interesting. Or maybe I'll find a game with sand tar and port it. Or perhaps I'll implement a Turing Sand Tarpit. The possibilities are ENDLESS.

I know you said:

But, I am a little confused.. :blush ..is a SAND TAR a thing or a concept? I have not finished the TT RPG yet so if it is a thing I guess I havn't seen it yet.

Are you saying we make it up and convince everyone about it? Sorry if I am just too tired to get it at this point. :weep

Thank for running the contest!!

That's right, there's no Sand Tar in Tendry's Tale. There is of course sand (a floor type) and tar (a tarstuff type). And the rules don't say we have to invent Sand Tar, we just have to include the words "sand" and "tar" in that order. So you could make a hold with one level themed around sand and the second level themed around tar. Or you could try to script the Sand Tar. You don't have to "convince" anyone about it, just include it in the hold in some way. :)

Thanks Nuntar that makes more sense to me. I guess the only other question is do the exact words "Sand" and "tar" have to appear as words or is the concept enough? Would a room with a sand floor that leads to tar qualify, if there was no text? Does the term words in the rule:

mean text?

Sorry if I am being too picky. I have a limited amount of time that I can spend on this contest so I will not have time to fix things if I get it wrong and find out later.

Pretty much exactly what I said. The text 'Sand Tar' must be spoken, or somehow drawn into the hold (such as part of the solution of a puzzle). Just having something which looks like a combination of sand and tar isn't enough.

I'm in, but I'm not particularly good at making RPG holds, so mine will probably look more like a DROD hold without fancy scripting stuff... Is that ok? :)

Don't worry. I check the timestamps. I'll get right on with the poll.
