I think that whenever you're standing at a room edge and your sword isn't visible (because it's outside the playing field) and you move diagonally, the display shows that the character does two orthogonal moves in quick succession. This is only a display bug, it doesn't in any way affect gameplay.

it -->ALWAYS<-- does that on room edges for some reason

Actually, you'll make an un-animated immediate orthogonal step towards the middle of the room so your sword gets visible followed by an animated step to the square you actually wanted to go... strange.

You'll even see Tendry passing through walls that way...

I've attached a tiny level set to test this. Just start the game and move NE/SW back and forth...

I've fixed this.

Incidentally, it was caused by the fix for this bug:

Now both situations are behaving properly.
