Okay, this idea is taken straight out of dreamland. (I've been playing drod way too much.)
Simply put, give the citizens a few snarky comments for when you poke them, wubbastyle.
"Missed me!"
"Watch it bub!"
"Gobbit!"
You get the idea. :D
