I'm going to start calling RPG holds quests. Will that work for everybody?

How about "tales" ?

So, what does everyone think?

(I thought about some word based on "drh" but I can't think of anything and "drh" is unpronounceable in English.)

Would caravel be interested in changing the name in game, because otherwise level sets should be the one for consistency's sake.

I imagine the extension won't change either. Does DRH stand for DROD RPG Hold?

Edit: That is, Deadly Rooms of Death Role Playing Game Hold.

I think Level-Sets could be good,but...Quest's sounds more nifty.
:P

But why should CaravelGames change it?

Hold is been in AE,KDD 2.0,JTRH & TCB so why change it?

Even it will "might" be changed,I will call them Holds!

I don't see this as being a problem. Look at regular DROD. Only one of the game titles contains the word 'hold'. We don't call them dungeons or cities (or journeys or skys for that matter).

I like Tales. It's a little more ambiguous that Quests, like Holds instead of Dungeons or the like as DROD levels aren't always dungeons, neither holds really... There is lots of flexibility with the DROD RPG as with DROD, with Quests I got used to WonderQuest levels called Quests. That's just how I think about it.

I think these things should be called "holds" because that's what they've been called in the Eighth in all the DROD installments, and I don't think that should change anytime soon. (Also, "hold" is part of the file extension, as has been noted earlier.)

I think we should call them Bob.

If not, "holds" would be fine too.

The Rabbit thinks of them as Holds.

The game itself still includes instances of the word hold. "Installed Holds" "Rate this Hold!" ".drh"

The forum thinks they are holds. We've got a DROD RPG Holds board.

While it can be argued that players new to DROD will easily understand the terms "level set" and "quest" as they are used in other games, that's precisely the problem with those words. They are used in other games. "Hold" has its own unique DROD-like charm. :)

And yet, "Choose Level Set", "Build Levels". I like "tales" or "quests", but mostly I like consistency.

What, did we call TCB files "Locations"?

No, and we should change that, too. Er, no, what I mean is: "location" is a reasonable way of saying "where you are", whereas "level set"...kind of doesn't mean anything.

what could we possibly call them which would be consistent with that they're called in the game itself? hrm. I wonder.

The term for DROD level sets is hold. Choose Hold and Change Hold both sound fairly awkward. Change Location is ambiguous to new players. So why not Choose Level Set? DROD already uses Build Levels, I do believe. So yeah, set current level set to this hold.

Yep. I'll second that, as I had no clue (until fairly recently) exactly what that was referring to, thus I had disregarded it completely and was unsure of how to import any given hold. :unsure :)

Nor 'Somehing else' for that matter. Choose Somehing else. Build Somehing else. That would be interesting...

:hmmm:

Because "Levels" is not the same as "Level Sets". A level is a subdivision of a hold.

Which is a good point; and to be honest, I wish "Change Level Set" would be changed to "Change Location". Or "Change Hold".
