I have an ATK of 286, which means that I only need one x4 attack gem in order to one-shot kill the fegundo.

Is there any hidden room in this level which has an attack gem?

I checked my autosave after rule 7 and I've got 342 ATK. What sword are you using?

The same I have... So how can I pick up more than 10 gems in this level, or where do I find another sword?

I found the room where you obviously need to use the grappling hook... but I don't have the grappling hook.

I'm in (almost) the same boat: ATK of 289 (and DEF 130, unsurprisingly), but now my choices appear to be the fegundo (to get through 3N1E), plowing through pirates and aumtlich (probably possible if I go back and collect all those health potions, but unlikely to be 'correct'), or some option C.

I've not found any secret/hidden rooms on rule 7, either, which is frustrating me :-). Certainly no grappling hook.

Look reaaaalllly closely, because the secret walls in this tileset are the hardest to see out of any tileset.

Arrgh! I'm on this room as well, but I can't find any aforementioned crumbly walls OR get back to the entrance - the arrows all prevent it, or really find any trick at all to either kill these monsters or get to the brain first to prevent them from /destroying/ my health. Someone please spoil it? :P

There is no trick. Get every attack gem in the game up to this point and you can have 290 ATK to one-shot kill the fegundo. Otherwise you have to take the damage.

I can't get back to the entrance of the level to go find more gems, is the problem - there's one-way arrows. Heck, I can't even get back to the first half of the level (where I found the Knight Shield) - so I've been assuming it involves the aforementioned crumbly walls. - Do I just have to load? I'm stuck at 271 gems - not to mention the seeps appear to require 330 attack! how are you supposed to get THAT much? The only 3 gems I know I missed were the 3 near wall walking, as I was intending to come back later when I had more attack/defense to kill the seeps (I used the invisibility potion on the pirate)

He was doing a good 2700 damage to my 2500 health - how are people getting his damage down to 750 anyway? (Yes, I do have the longsword)... I apparently entered rule 7 with an average acceptable damage amount, 240ish. I had heard that it's possible to use the invis potion on the pirate, go into rule 7, get some more attack/defense, then come back and kill the seeps guarding the Wall Walking for far less damage than the pirate would have given you. However, the.. one way arrows seem to be ruining that plan. Without the invis potion there's no way I wouldn't not die, or at least lose all but 300-400 health, to the pirate. (even before going and upgrading, it cost less health for me to just kill the seeps and use the invis potion on the pirate, but the 1500ish health that it took to kill the seeps still seemed like too much for me)


Also, getting the wall walking and then bomb would also only help me if I could actually manage to find the tar mother in the secret room, which I haven't.

Well, here's a quick run-down of how much damage the pirate does, depending on your ATK:

(Pirate's stats are 180 HP, 430 ATK, 210 DEF. Player's DEF should be 80, so the pirate is doing 350 damage per hit.)

ATK 230 = Pirate gets 8 hits = 2800 damage
ATK 233 = Pirate gets 7 hits = 2550 damage
ATK 236 = Pirate gets 6 hits = 2200 damage
ATK 240 = Pirate gets 5 hits = 1850 damage
ATK 246 = Pirate gets 4 hits = 1500 damage
ATK 255 = Pirate gets 3 hits = 1150 damage
ATK 270 = Pirate gets 2 hits = 700 damage

I don't actually think it is possible to get ATK 255 or 270 before fighting the pirate unless you do use the invisibility potion to bypass him and come back later. But ATK 246 is certainly attainable. I'd suggest you do a thorough search for ATK gems in the first six Rules. If it helps you locate them, my ATK at the end of each Rule was:
