Well one of the reasons I set it to 5 minutes is so that people don't try to be too ambitious and attempt something they can't do, and so that voters don't have too much of a hard time trying to get through all the entries.

Thanks zwetschenwasser, I might take you up on that offer, once I've worked a little more on it.

@NiroZ:

I guess there's nothing wrong with attempting something, which eventually turns out to be too difficult a task, but I see your point. Nevertheless I think most people do have quite a good idea of what they are capable of (I'm sure noone is gonna try to make a feature movie. It's pretty clear this is about short movies.) and don't like being told that they probably can't do something anyway and that's why it's forbidden.

As for the voting process, any given playable hold entering a competition will take at least 5 minutes to play through, and while a non-playable one has arguably a larger potential to be boring, I don't think voters have an obligation to watch all the way through an excruciatingly boring 15 minute cutscene if they don't feel like it; it's the obligation of the artist to make it interesting. If they can't do that, they will just have to cope with the votes of people who could not bring themselves to watching it until the end.

Thinking about that, I like the idea of easing the time restriction, but making it clear to the participants, that voters won't have to watch more than 5 minutes if they don't feel like it. I think that would give participants a wider creative scope while still being kind on the voters.

As for my own entry, I can say now that it will probably come out to about 4:05, so on my side there's really no problem any more. But for example zwetschenwasser's entry is more than 5 minutes and I'm looking forward to watching other entries that were not cobbled together in 15 minutes time and are actually interesting to watch.

EDIT: changed estimated length of my entry

Just PM me if you want! I'm available (usually) Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and some weekends.

BTW, I'm just watching each video as it comes out, so I'll know what they're about when I'm voting.(Please correct me if I'm misunderstanding the voting system, this is the first contest I've ever been in :))

Well I got our (mine and coppro) entry in just at the last minute it seems. I sure hope you all get to take a look at it. I waited to watch the entries until we were done. Some very nice stuff. I worked hard but I got ours under the time limit. I enjoyed the team aspect of this contest. I hope you enjoy the movie. :fun

There are still two days left and I really hope that there will be a few more entries until then. Maybe people are letting their great movies just sit around until friday in order to not give away their excellent ideas before time.

Or they don't know about this thing or think they have missed the deadline already because of the RPG break. I kind of missed a mention of the contest in this month's illumination.

It will be a bit of a 'last gasp' effort, as I've been out of the site for a while, but I've started on something for this and hope to have it finished by the deadline.

I think we'd all like to see Elfstones work even if it passes the deadline.

I wanted to make a movie for this competition, but I didn't because of the lack of ideas and/or creativity. I realize that it is too late to change anything for me, but I thought I could share on some of my ideas - I can always create the movie outside the competition.

On of the ideas is the dungeon of unimplemented features. Basically, I have to collect a number of interesting feature requests from the appropriate boards and make a movie about how DROD would look, if they were implemented (yes, raygun included). I discarded it because I wasn't sure it would work.

Another one was to depict DROD in the future - the 12th game in the series: DROD:JTTSBHBTSSOTAE (aka Deadly Rooms Of Death: Journey to The Third Sky Beyond Hell Beyond The Second Sky Of The Alternative Eighth). Features are still flowing in, but the new graphic artists were never hired, so the game still uses TCB's graphics. Discarded due to lack of ideas for the 12th installment of DROD.

Those were my ideas. Now, let's have a friendly laugh by hearing out others. Well?

EDIT: Conversation trigger fail.
