Do you think it would be good to be able to undo any moves that you did without restarting the room entirely? I think this could take away a lot of tediousness where you can make mistakes even if you're not dead yet.

I remember seeing this discussed somewhere before. I think the agreement was that this would be too much like cheating, and would encourage people not to think about their moves.

I vote a big HELL NO! on this one. Part of the thrill of DROD is that self-loathing adrenaline rush you get when you push the wrong key. Smiting isn't an easy job and Beethro had better concentrate or he'll get himself in trouble. Plus that would make the game go too quickly, there's so many times where if I could back up just one square I would have avoided the trap.. and falling for traps is part of what makes certain rooms great. On the other hand, for playtesting purposes in the editor, an undo key would be GREAT! that way you can test every little aspect of your board for playability, evil, silliness, or what have you, without having to activate all your orbs and kill your pertinent monsters and such. But not in the game... www... no...

Yes, I agree with at least being able to use it in the editor.

Yeah, I don't want an undo either. Mainly because I had to go through the pain of pushing the wrong key and so I want everyone else to as well :D

I think having an undo when playing the main game would take away much of the fun of the game. Not needing to restart any part of the room would take away the risk, which would take away the adrenaline, which would lower the fun value of the game. This idea might have a place in the editor, but I just don't think it's right for the main game.
