Create the best one room hold.

Rules:
One entry/person.
No separate exit/start rooms etc.
Room must be solveable.

You can either post your hold here, or send it to me by e-mail.
I'll make a poll here after a considerable amount of time.

Uh?

There have been lots of comments about the "best" holds, levels, rooms, and so on, and now a contest for the "best" one-room hold.

What is the definition of best? What criteria must the room meet? What makes any one particular room better over another and why?

I think the contest, apart from being too vague, should be revised to take into account the problem of opinion.

Well, someone has to put forth the first entry, so here's mine. It's amazing what an hour of working on this while I'm supposed to be doing school work can do, eh?

Edit: This room takes a little over 700 moves, so it's not as short as it might look, but it's pretty fun... at least, I think so.

Should entries have demos attached to them?

700 moves? My victory was 1953 moves in 14.47 – I got bogged down with the second snake not cooperating but didn’t think that I was that inefficient (only 36%).

Anyway it was a fun room and I’ll give it 8/10 – easily the best so far.

Yup - that was a pretty fun room, and I agree with Atch that the most time-consuming part was getting the second serpent to cooperate.

My victory came at around 1000 moves.

An alternative is lure the snake over, and then retreat into the northern passage and move the gobling 1 square north of the passage, effectively making a dead end.

If no one else than the hold author claims to have conquered the room, then, yes.

I usually lure the second snake up to the top corridor, then toss the goblin up there but stay in the bottom corridor. Whole exercise takes me all of 40 moves.

Style points: kill the last snake with the wraithwing.

I had to do the snake the same way eytan described. Snake kept heading east as soon as I tried to manouver the goblin. Took me 912 turns to finish.

My best so far is 664 moves, using the upper corridor method. And the second Tar Mother Eye was the last thing I killed on the level, 1 turn before the respawn cycle ended :)
