Please, can we have some killer mushrooms?
You can!
Here's my one year old request for Mushrooms, submitted to the SF page:
The Mushroom
This being inhabits the lower portions of many dungeons and is a real worry for many castle owners because of the fact that it will damage walls, floors and grows at an alarming rate, while being very hard to eradicate. The mushroom has similar properties to tar, for it will occupy an area of at least 2x2 squares, and can only be cut at flat edges. Like tar, it also cannot expand or remain in an area where any part of it is one square wide, because affected bits of mushroom break off and form 'spores'.
Example: If a 3x2 portion of the mushroom is cut, all of the remaining squares of mushroom become 'spores' because 1 square thick mushroom does not exist.
Spores are similar to Tar Babies in formation, but behave very differently. These clouds of Spores are alive but cannot be killed or harm Beethro in this form, and will move directly away from Beethro like Roach Queens do until they hit an obstacle. When this happens, the spore cloud turns into a baby mushroom, and the resulting enemy will turn and make for Beethro like a Tar Baby does. Mushrooms consist of two parts; a 'cap', which is the 'tar-like' part that spreads over the ground, and is destroyed like tar is, and a stem, which is a one square tile somewhere in the mushroom cap that has a raised part over it to indicate its position. The stem is the central part of the mushroom; when it is cut, the entire cap attached to it falls to the floor and each square of mushroom turns into clouds of Spores. The one thing that makes the mushroom different from tar is the fact that it doesn't grow by itself, but instead, every time a mushroom is cut (Not babies), it sends a warning chemical to all the other mushrooms, and consequently, all the others expand by 1 square.
