icon Magpie (+1)
Basically, a black and white fegundo that moves like a goblin. It cannot kill the player but if it touches him then it steals his sword forcing Beethro to chase the bird down. It is killed normally and while it has the sword it moves away from Beethro. It flies over water and pits and is undamged by hotiles.
It could perhaps have a nest which it heads for and drops the sword off at.
Comments/ideas? :)

What happens once you've chased it down, if it has your sword?

You give it a walloping thump and it gives it back, I'd imagine.

Thats what I was guessing.. But would that kill it?
If not, presumably you couldn't smite it with the sword in the same turn... So what stops it from just grabbing it again?

Perhaps it pursues all swords, and not just Beethro's? And it can only be killed in its nest. And its nest always has swords in it.

And if it steals your sword and you exit the room, you will have your sword back. Then if you reenter the room, the magpie won't have a sword!

Magpie's nest is a good idea.

I like the idea that it heads after all swords. Perhaps you can only get the sword back from the nest. I can picture a sort of race between Beethro and a guard to get their swords back and smite the 'pie and each other.
I imagined it as you having to bump into it to get the sword back whereupon it retreats a short way then comes back to get the sword again. I can see puzzles where several of them are released below you and you have to avoid them while dealing with some roaches from the front. Or letting one steal the sword at the right time so that you can change direction quickly.

Hmm... good idea with that. So, guard must be programmed to get his sword when this thingy(Magpie) steals it.

And Slayer can kill you even without hook. :D

Also, I think Magpie should hold stolen swords in front of it and crush everything that can be crushed with sword on the way to the nest.
EDIT: OK, get a point from me for Magpie idea. :)

Can you destroy a nest?

Thanks for the point mxvladi :D

Can you destroy a nest?

Probably not. It would confuse the magpie. Unless it could build a new one I'd have the nest just be destroyed when the magpie is. Or the nest could produce a new magpie if the current magpie is killed. There are a couple of options, any ideas on what would work best? I like the new magpie option.

Also, I think Magpie should hold stolen swords in front of it and crush everything that can be crushed with sword on the way to the nest.

That's a cool idea too. Presumably it is coded to ignore other creatures when it has a sword. It also gave me the idea of an alternate creature that is a swordless guard that steals Beethro's sword and then tries to kill him with it. Beethro gets the sword back when he dies but this could be done with scripting (I imagine).

Beethro gets the sword back when he dies

Sorry, that was unclear. When the enemy with his sword dies.
