I have left this room for 2 months and now I'd like to reattempt it. I think I'm still somewhat inefficient in delaying the advance of the 3 roaches. When I reach (19,24), the 3 roaches are lined up from (19,20) to (19,22), while the head of the adder is at (19,16). Is the room conquerable from this configuration? I feel that I'm one square too short.

Not sure about that particular configuration . . . but it doesn't sound likely. What worked for me was dragging the roaches back northward into the reach of the southbound adder -
