This is a very enjoyable little hold, with a linear format that makes it quite different from larrymurk's other recent offerings. While it contains a variety of puzzles, and a sweet story, the emphasis is on aumtlich.

Mt favorite level is the second level, Aumtlich Pass, where (surprise, surprise) your task is to pass aumtlich with the help of other monsters and game elements. I especially like the room with the mimic on this level. The puzzle I like the best is on the next level, Aumtlich Gulch 4E, which is a very tricky aumtlich arrangement puzzle that didn't rely on any obscure movement order quirks. However, if obscure movement order quirks are what you're looking for, this hold's got one of those too, on the final level. Good luck! :)

Larry rocks like a...rock golem. But much, much smarter.

This is another excellent hold, and fairly easy compared to most of his other offerings.

I give it a 9 for fun and 6 brains.

I wasn't a beta tester, but I did run through this hold during HA testing.

This hold may not be for you if you don't like linearity, lynchpins, or Larrymurk's trademark difficulty. However, there's some fairly clever stuff in here and some original puzzles that I haven't seen anywhere else.

I'd recommend everyone give this hold a try - it's got that satisfying feeling when you solve one of the puzzles :)

Very nice hold, but who's surprised? Candy for Gramps is less difficult than most larry holds up until the last two rooms, but it still has that feeling of satisfaction when you solve a room.

Oh, lord! The second last room was clearly impossible :) Another solid larrymurk hold.

Hey, I wanted to try your hold, too, but I can't because it says that I have an older version of DROD. What can I do?

Then you should download the TCB demo and 3.2 patch which will be fully capable of playing user-created 3.2 holds.

This hold cannot be imported into JtRH. If you would like to play it, you can import it into the free demo version of TCB, which can be downloaded from here. You do not need the 3.2 patch to play this hold. It is a 3.1 hold.

I suggest you play the TCB demo for a while to familiarize yourself with the new game elements before trying harder user-made holds like this one.

Auuugh... my brain... :toohard

Those last two rooms were really evil (but hey, we all know who this hold came from, after all... ;)), but the rest was actually less evil than usual - at least as far as Larry is concerned... :look

So I give it seven and a half braaains and 10 for fun. :)

Conquered the hold yesterday. I really enjoyed playing through this thing.

Some specific comments on the levels/rooms:

The linearity worked surprisingly well. I hardly felt the urge to skip a room as the solution usually came before I started losing interest. All in all great hold!

Sorry, but I'm new to this forum and didn't see it in the help section: how exactly do you play user-created holds? I've tried putting it in Data/Homemade which seems to be the right place, but it still won't show up in the 'Where' menu.

In the game menu, choose Change Location, and then choose Import. You should then be able to browse to the hold you downloaded.

Have fun! :)

"Where" Menu? Are you playing DROD: Architect's Edition?

If so, I highly suggest downloading the demo for The City Beneath. The demo is fully functional, with the only limitations being that you can only use the City graphics style (any holds using other styles will display using this style instead) and you cannot progress past a certain point in The City Beneath official hold. This does not affect user-made holds.

But the best reason to upgrade is that you can only play the latest holds (like Candy For Gramps) in TCB.

Another great hold from Larry. I don't know how you come up with the puzzle, but there always seems to be an elegant solution to them. The last two rooms for Aumtlich Gulch were my favorite, particularly the last room. I think my solving process went something like:

Also well done TFMurphy. I was happy when I could match your #1s, let alone find a way to beat one. You own this hold, but, um... You haven't seen the last of me! Or something like that.

This hold was excellent. Sometimes I wish Larry Murk would make more "easy" holds like this one. Not that its truly easy, but when compared to his usual this was very enjoyable.
